The Silesian House (Sliezsky dom), located at an altitude of 1,670 metres, is a unique mountain hotel and an important tourist point in the Tatras. It lies in the picturesque Velicka Valley directly below the majestic Gerlachov Peak (Gerlachovský štít). It is a popular place for those looking for relaxation, but also for climbers and hikers who go to the highest peaks.
There are two main hiking trails to get to the Silesian House. The most common and fastest route leads from Tatranská Polianka along the green hiking trail. Although the road is closed to cars, this route is relatively easy and is ideal for hikers who don't want to waste time and want to get to the heart of the mountains as soon as possible. The second, slightly longer but all the more beautiful route is the walk from Hrebienok along the Tatra Highway (red trail). This route offers wonderful panoramic views and is a great choice if you want to enjoy the beauty of the Tatra landscape.
Upon arrival at Sliezsky dom, you will be enchanted by the magnificent view of Velické Pleso and the surrounding Tatra peaks. It is an ideal place to have a meal in the restaurant, sit on the terrace and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea. The Silesian House also serves as a starting point for hikes to Gerlachovský štít, Východná Vysoká or the Polish Ridge.
